About the Project

Untamed began much longer ago than even Laura realized. The project began to take shape and form in 2015 as she worked closely with other passionate people to plan the first of excursions for the summer of 2017. But the idea and dream of trailing wild horses through wildernesses, over mountains, and beyond the prairies to watch, study, and record their habits, began when Laura was a young girl. Raised on a ranch in Alberta, Laura grew up fascinated by horses, first by those she knew on the ranch. It wasn’t long however, before she heard the legends of the wild horses. She was enchanted by the stories of the wild horses passed on for generations and told to her by native cowboys and ranch hands she grew up around. Years later as a worldwide photographer and traveller, Laura decided to bring to life the dream she had so many years ago. This dream was so much more than just to make a documentary about wild horses. It was to trail them without disrupting the beauty of the their freedom. It was to pause for a second in time their wild sprits and show the world their true nature, away from the unreality of Hollywood. To take a real, a close, a truthful look at what it really means to be a wild horse that runs free from the touch of mankind. So thanks for taking the time to join us on this journey as we live a dream that began in the heart of a young girl, so many years ago.
